This morning was a cool 20-22 degrees and blue sunny skies. We decided to tackle what we came here to do …hike in attempt to see some fall colors and beautiful scenery. We ended up going up to the end of Twin Lakes area which is stunning by itself and hike the Barney Lake Trail which ended up being around 8.8 miles round trip with moderate elevation change (~1600′).
It was almost the perfect hike we’ve ever done. Fresh snow, falls colors, pristine snow covered mountains and an alpine crystal clear lake which was the prize at the end. Best of all, nearly no people whatsoever.
We took Marley (dog) and he had the time of his life … an excellent trail scout …he always runs ahead then doubles back. I’m guessing he likely did close to 15 miles. lol We’re glad we had the dog to help guide us as the trail information was somewhat lacking:
I’ll let the pictures do the talking … around 75 in total that can be viewed in our Google Photo Album. Just click on the first pic to enlarge then click thru them. They should be in order.
Time for a beverage and pain reliever!
