What a difference a day makes. Yesterday was perfect around 78 degrees and blue skies and no wind. Today it’s 53 and very windy … as in 30+ mph sustained winds. I guess it’s time to move on down the road.
We ventured out into the foothills directly outside of Bridgeport, CA on a road known for autumn colors. It didn’t disappoint …
As usual more photos here in our Last Day in Bridgeport album.
We are pulling anchor tomorrow AM and heading south to Death Valley for a day or two.
Trivia … did you know Mt. Whitney just out of Lone Pine, CA is the tallest point in the lower 48 states and Death Valley only a 100 or so miles away is the lowest point? We actually drove up Mt. Whitney portal in May as far as we could until the road stopped. Burnt the brakes off the Mini Cooper and the clutch! lol
Really enjoyed our stay here in Bridgeport and seems like would timed the autumn colors fairly well. Perhaps next time we’ll stay further south and hit all the hiking trails and sites there as there are about a dozen other trails and sites from Lee Vining down to Bishop, CA, including Mammoth Lakes area, etc.
